The Student Social Work Association—a service organization for students studying social work in the College of Health Sciences and Professions and any other students interested in community involvement—is preparing for its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, which helps feed underserved families in Washington County through Hopewell Health Centers in Belpre.
Donations allow SSWA to purchase food to provide families with Thanksgiving meals. When the students started this service project in 2010, they were able to feed 10 families. In 2015, the group raised enough money to feed 58 families—a total of 240 at-risk individuals who may not have had a Thanksgiving meal otherwise.
